Compact size, east to use, excellent value

Pros:
* No installation necessary
* Reasonably quiet operation
* Fast burning at 8x speed
* Auto tray open with software

Cons:
* Could not install bundled software
* Cover and tray flexing, not rigid
* Manual tray closure only
* Writer will not operate connected to a USB 2 universal hub

Review:
I endeavored to use my universal USB 2 hub, that works for every other software operation I use, but not with this writer. The 2 USB cables, must be plugged directly into the netbook, for the writer to be recognized.

Recommendations:
Overall, I can recommend this product, as it operates well, is fairly fast and quiet in operation and you can also use 8cm CD-R 185mb-200mb pocket disks as a bonus. The Transcend writer works fine, no installation or setup is required and I burnt a 4.2GB DVD-R disk, in 14.5 minutes at 8x speed.

Most users will have Windows Media Player installed on their Windows, but this will require upgrading to version 10 to install the CyberLink Power2Go disc writing software.
