Super fast speed,

Replaced my HD on my 10 year old P3 laptop with this 32GB SSD. Cloned the drive using a USB HD enclosure and free HD clone software from the internet. Wow, what a big difference. It's faster than my netbook. Now I have a new life on this old P3 laptop. Use it as a internet terminal around the house. Very quiet operation!!! Love this product.

The speed rate of 76MB/s appears to indicate the minimal value.
On proper hardware, benchmark yields about 100MB/s and very low access time ~ 0.5ms.
In a real life environment, Dell Latitude class for example, makes boot time from cold to ready desktop in sub 10 seconds! Application start, directory listings, image thumbnailing - virtually instant - exactly as expected.
Bear in mind though, low-end laptops (including most Sony VAIO) have poor, sluggish IDE controllers, 20...25MB/s at best, that's why you may not see much improvements on performance side.
Wish they were priced closer to SATA models, but ironically IDE SSD drives are made of the very same SATA components extra SATA <-> IDE conntroller bridge which unavoidably limits top speed to 133MB/s and ads to the cost.
Still, I'd not trade my Dell Precision M20, M60 with IDE bus for some modern SATA cheappy laptop. With these IDE-SSD drives your old good machine will get a rocket boost and would deserve another few years of enjoyable life ;)

Good performer, but poor tolerance

The drive works fine; 70MB/s is a dramatic improvement over rotating media drives. The MSI S270 now boots Ubuntu 10.04 in less than 20 seconds. But alas, the side mounting holes are off by almost a millimeter; did not have this problem with other drives I've used in the past (Toshiba, Hitachi, and Seagate.)
