512MB DDR2 533MHz module from A-Data. PC2-4200 module for desktop systems. Ideal for upgrading new systems to Windows Vista. 240 pins, non-ECC, 1.8V, 8 chips (64Mx8 configuration), lifetime warranty.
A-Data is one of the worlds largest memory manufacturers. A-Data memory is known to be very compatible across most systems and it if offered with a lifetime warranty.
Description from the manufacturer:
A-DATA announces the Number-1 Vitesta DDR2-533 module which passes the IntelR Platform Memory Validation in Taiwan, and this excellent module is avaliable now. Its densities are 512MB and other higher density module will be phased in soon. This module configuration is by 32M x 16 (512Mbit) die, 8 pcs dies in 1 rank.
This Vitesta DDR2 SO-DIMM is designed to meet the 533MHz data-rate specification of the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard, but it seems to own the huge potentiality to draw out higher performance in A-DATA laboratories.
By 1.8V low-voltage application, DDR2 modules can reduce about 50% power consumption, which is compared with 2.5V (DDR) power supply on the same operation speed. So it is an environment-friendly product. In order to achieve so amazing high operation speed, A-DATA applies the lower parasitic-loading FBGA (Fine-pitch BGA) package to run in full-speed without extraneous loading.
Compared with DDR, DDR2 owns four key technologies pave the way to high-speed operation and low power consumption.

Memory problems (NOT related to this A-Data product!)
After 4 years of intense usage I had memory problems with my Dell Dimension 8400. So I changed the two original modules of memory with a pair of A-Data and now the system works perfectly.

Mixed feelings
Basically put only buy this if you need the extra Ram because thats all it does for you. I used many big and ram demanding games with this and the only one that ran any better was Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I tried it on other games like Armed Assault and it made no difference at all. Not sure if i'd buy it again if i had the choice. The only bad side affect i found was my start up and internet was slightly slower with the extra ram. Why? - i've no idea. All i can say is it was slower once i installed this ram. If your buying to upgrade to Vista this is the man for you. However, If your looking for any major game performance increase then maybe hold onto your money for faster ram or a new pc if possible.
In saying all of this, it was only 25 euro so maybe not the biggest loss either if you want to take a chance on it. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 because it BASICALLY does what it saying on the 'tin'.
