Details
The RunCore Pro IV Series features the world's fastest MLC SSD, reaching speeds up to 215MB/sec read and 150MB/sec write. RunCore Pro IV Solid State drives also offer superior random read and random write speeds compared to the other main stream SSD on the market today. With in/outs per second (IOPS) of over 7000 read and 300 write it will process large amounts of data allowing you to simultaneously run a number of applications simultaneously with virtually no lag.

RunCore Pro IV SATA SSD is designed for various fields. The products adopt advanced flash controller and NAND flash and higher performance in write/read rate than mechanism hard driver. Furthermore, its characteristics of low power consumption and anti-vibration are obvious.

Pro IV 2.5" SATA SSD complies with SATA 2.0, which supports all major operating systems such as Windows9X /Me/NT/XP/CE/Vista, MAC, Linux and Unix, Solaris, Vxworks. With no moving parts and seek time, it does not need to spin up into action or to seek files in the way that traditional hard disk drives do - enabling Pro IV SSD to work much faster. It supports capacity up to 256GByte with maximum transfer rate as high as 240MByte/s. Pro IV 2.5" SATA SSD contain the cache size of up to 64M. Pro IV 2.5" SATA SSD is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life.

SATA II Interface The SSD can be installed in any operating system environment that supports SATA 1.0 or greater devices. The drive is compliant with SATA 2.0 standards. The SSD has a standard Serial ATA interface that is fully ATA/ATAPI-8 compliant and conforms to the same mechanical and mounting requirements as a standard rotating disk drive.

Performance The SATA SSD can operate at high sustained read/write transfer rates of up to 240/160MB/s. Power consumption is kept to a minimum. SSD can be powered from a single 5-volt source. The solid state design eliminates electromechanical noise and delay inherent in traditional magnetic rotating media. The wear-leveling and bad-block mapping algorithms ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of user data.

Endurance The useful life of flash media is limited by the number of write/erase operations that can be performed on the media. To extend the useful life of Rapid-Destruction SSD, special wear-leveling and bad-block mapping algorithms are integrated in the firmware.

Wear-Leveling Algorithm The dynamic wear-leveling algorithm integrated in the firmware guarantees that erase/write cycles are evenly distributed across all of the flash memory block locations. Wear-leveling eliminates repeated writes to the same physical flash memory location, thereby preventing blocks from premature wear.

Bad-Block Management The bad-block mapping algorithm replaces bad-blocks with new ones from available spares. Two percent (2%) of the flash memory is held in reserve (spare blocks) for bad block replacement. Bad blocks in the media are flagged when detected. The next time an attempt is made to access a flagged block, it is immediately replaced by a spare block. The bad-block mapping function enables data to be automatically transferred from a bad sector to an available spare block.

Notes: 1. RunCore Inc. scans for bad blocks during the manufacturing process at the initial installation of the flash components. Bad blocks are mapped and identified during the manufacturing process.
2. The maximum amount of available user space will not be less than 97% of the total flash capacity, i.e., the reserved space will not exceed more than 3% of the total drive volume.

Data Retention Data stored on RunCore SSD remains valid for 10 years without requiring power support. Each unit can be stored under certain environmental conditions for extended periods without any occurrence of data degradation.

After I changed the Toshiba 60Gb harddrive for the Runcore, I could not believe how much it changed my user experience. With a half full drive, I get 170Mb/s read (this maybe due to the ICH8 chipset in my Dell D630) and 145Mb/s write. Before, i had 35Mb/s read and 8Mb/s write. The speed and transformation are sensational.

Installation took some time.
First I copied Windows XP to the drive but XP did not start correctly and stopped halfway. Then I decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate. This was a piece of cake of course.

If you install this product you will not recognize your laptop again.
