Transform your ASUS EEE PC a brand new computer with RunCore Mini PCI-e SSDs!

The RunCore Mini PCI-e SSD will make your computer approximately 4X-6X faster and turns any compatible computer into a viable solution for many personal, business, industrial, or military computing applications.

The PCI Express Mini Card format has become the ideal choice for storage media of the ultra-mobile PC. With its small footprint and industry- standard design, the mPCIe format is an ideal fit for embedded solid state storage because it allows for high capacities and high performance while ensuring compatibility in ultra-mobile applications. The product is compliant with ATA and supports Windows9X/Me/NT/XP/CE/Vista, MAC, Linux and Unix.

The key points: • Bad block management and wear leveling algorithms dramatically enhance flash memory endurance
• Power-down data protection ensures data integrity in case of power loss
• The rugged industrial design combined with temperature testing and adherence to rigid standards has resulted in the highest reliability and performance, tolerance to shock.

RunCore SSD also features an onboard Slave Micro USB Port and Master capabilities!
Micro USB Slave:
This feature allows owners to use their mini PCI-E SSD as a USB Drive. You can now preload your RunCore drive with your current HDD via any cloning or ghosting program. We highly recommend the free trial of Acronis True Image Software as this will save you a considerable amount of time and trouble instead of installing a new OS and all the applicable drivers.

Micro USB Master:
The RunCore SSD also supports a Master USB Bus. Master USB is not included but RunCore does offer users the ability to solder their own. Soldering the drive will void the current 2 year warranty.

Attention: Only Asus S101 users will be able to take advantage of the USB cloning feature.
Asus 900 and 900A users will not be able to utilize this feature, because the existing OS is set up for PATA not SATA bus, and will need a clean install of the OS. This upgrade is for customers who have previous experience in installing an OS or those who are willing to learn and want to do it for the first time.

RCP-I-S7064-C with ASUS 701SD

The SSD arrived very quickly after order and was complete with cable for the mini USB port on it, screwdriver for fixing and cloning software on the disc. I decided not to clone but to do a clean install using the restore CD that came with the 701SD. If you have 701SD BIOS before 0602 you will need to update using the ASUS tool, 0602 is the first 701SD BIOS to support SATA. I only used the supplied screwdriver to removed the old 8G SSD and fit the new Runcore, done in about 8 mins. I ran the restore CD from an external CDROM drive. The operation was straight forward and in a short time I had a working Eeepc with 64G SSD. I went straight on the internet and downloaded Open Office, GIMP, CCleaner, Kaspersky Internet Security, Firefox and Thunderbird all with no problems and quickly. The machine is much faster than before the mod. and I am delighted with it. I have a full working laptop that is very useable but only 8 inches Yay!.

Awesome Upgrade

Super easy to swap out the original SSD in my Asus 901 with my new Runcore SSD (once I found a Philips screwdriver that was small enough). Before installation I had updated my Bios to the most recent (v2103) so that it would recognize the SATA SSD. After installation, I re-installed my OS (KDE 4.3/Fedora 11) but it all went pretty quickly and painlessly due to increased speed of the SSD. Benchmarks show that the new Runcore SSD is about 6 times faster (now: read 125 and write 60; before read 23 and write 9MB/sec) than the stock SSD and I believe it based on the speed of package installation. I was able to install about 1000 packages in about an hour. It used to take me an hour to update 100-200 packages. What a well spent Sunday afternoon!

Essential upgrade for Eee 901
August 28th 2009 Verified user
Great product, reasonably priced and very fast delivery.

This SSD replaces the 8GB or 16GB one supplied with the Eee 901. You'll need a fine-point cross-head screwdriver, as the one supplied with the SSD is too big for the screws holding down the unit inside the 901.

Once fitted, enter the BIOS setup to swap disk 0 (the original 4GB SSD) and disk 1 (the new 64GB SSD).

In use the SSD is incredibly fast: most disk operations are two to four times quicker. It runs slightly hot. You'll notice the keyboard is warmer than before, especially when running in High-Performance mode. Battery life seems largely unaffected.

Buy one - it'll give your Eee a new lease of life.

The only problem is DHL Service to my Location... The item arrived to Oporto on Tuesday and DHL took three days to make the delivery in my work location! (Just 76 KM!)...

Talking about this item...Its an excellent product! Very fast, easy to mount on my eee pc 901.

Thank You Memoryc!

Good Upgrade

Bought this to circumvent the EeePC 901's achile's heel - the 4GB SSD main partition. Installing this as the main partition allows me to ignore space constraints and use my netbook like a normal computer, without worrying about shrinking XP or leaving off certain updates.

To use this SSD just remove the bottom cover of the machine, undo two tiny screws and remove the 12GB SSD, install this one and replace screws and cover etc. This is then configured in the BIOS to be the boot drive, and the onboard 4GB SSD as an extra drive.

Very easy to fit, then just install Windows from scratch as normal. I did fresh install, so can't comment on cloning etc.

Installed at the same time as a 2GB ram upgrade and machine now much quicker, no delays after loading XP.

Only downside is that this makes the total cost of the Asus 901 quite high, but makes it a fully useable machine, rather than a frustratingly slow machine.

Fast but questionable manufacturer support

Got this SSD for my ASUS eee 901 (ubuntu 9.04). Works good so far. Significant speedup over ASUS SSD even though promised numbers are not reached (read: less than 90MB/sec).

After purchasing I was made aware of a potential problem with performance degradation over time.

Issue has been mentioned in the RunCore forums here (without satisfactory feedback from RunCore):

Would not buy again (if erase issues are not explained/solved by RunCore).

I replaced the 16GB SSD with this. Left the 4Gb OEM SSD in as swap space. Installed EEEbuntu latest version. My EEE is much faster than before! Excellent product!

Supercharge your EeePC 901

Took awhile to receive my order as the website did not sync with warehouse DB fast enough resulting in over-orders.

Anyway, installation of the SSD physically was without an issue. Only problem I had was trying to install my nlited XPsp3 directly onto it. For some reason I would always get an error halfway into it asking me to specify the drive where the installation files are. I ended up removing the SSD first and installed the OS on the internal 4GB first, then cloning it to the 64GB (using the mini usb port on the SSD) before formating the 4GB.

Now for me, the start-ups and shutdowns are blazing and I'd get better performance when I hibernate. No regrets at all and worth every penny.
