Details
In RunCore's pursuit of the ultimate solid state drive (SSD) upgrade, a full new line of SSD products have been developed, boosting computer performance 5x to 40x. The RunCore Pro IV SSDs provide speed increases in startup, application launch, multitasking between programs, opening/rendering/saving large files, and shutdown. The RunCore PRO IV SSD also offers silent operation, longer battery life, heat reduction, reliability, and durability making it the perfect solution for all applications.

The revolutionary new SSD design not only boosts your sustained performance but it also focuses on random small file Read and Write speeds, the speeds that create bottle necks in current and past PATA, SATA HDDs, and some SSDs. With Operating system and application consisting of thousands of small files, the RunCore Pro IV SSD can process these files at nearly 10X write and 50X read while creating a more efficient and satisfying user experience.

RunCore Pro IV 1.8" LIF (Low Insertion Force) SSD is designed for MacAir, which provided a LIF interface. The product adopts advanced flash controller and NAND flash, contains the cache size of up to 64MB. It has a higher performance in read/write rate than mechanism hard drive. Furthermore, its characteristics of low power consumption and anti-vibration are obvious.

The product is compliant with SATA 2.6 protocol, and supports all major operating systems such as Windows9X/Me/NT/XP/CE/Vista/Windows7, MAC, Linux and Unix, Solaris, Vxworks. With no moving parts and seek time, 1.8" LIF SSD does not need to spin up into action or to seek files in the way that traditional hard disk drives do - enabling it to work much faster. It supports capacity from 16GB to 128GB with maximum transfer rate as high as 210MB/s. Therefore, it is an ideal storage device for commercial MAC users' mobile PC.

Includes High-speed external SSD case.

Does what it says on the tin

This product does what it says on the tin. The user of the A1304 Rev.B MacBook Air this was fitted to reports the machine is now much, much faster and "Like having a new laptop".

Care is needed when fitting the cables, ensuring the right cable is used AND that the cable insertion orientation is correct.

The instructions that come with the product are not very clear. I would suggest scanning them to get the idea, and then follow this iFixIt guide http://bit.ly/LL2f2y

I used the latest version of CCC to clone the existing HDD to the SSD via the external LIF caddy that comes with the product. I did NOT use any of the bundled software. I didn't close/screw the caddy during the clone.
After the job was done, I zero'ed the original HDD a few times and put it in the LIF caddy, useful portable storage.

I used the RunCore LIF cable with the RunCore SSD. Later I used the Apple LIF cable with the original HDD in the LIF caddy.
