OCZ’s Neural Impulse Actuator marks a new era in gaming. Rather than being a substitute for a mouse, the NIA is a pioneering new peripheral to be used in conjunction with your mouse for a more immersive gaming experience. The NIA is compatible with any PC game using keyboard input … past, present, or future. Predefined profiles included with the software allow the gamer to develop their own NIA—memory to launch the desired behavior of the character and shoot with the “blink of an eye”, without lifting a finger.

Play Games Using Biosignals
Translate electric Biosignals of your body directly into computer commands and take advantage of total immersion into game play. Customize behavioral profiles of your character and let your sub consciousness take over.

Hone your Reflexes
Where others have to practice reaction times, you can use reflection-based game play to get the better of your opponents by cutting the reaction time by 50%.

Use Space-Age Technology
The headband uses carbon nanofiber-based fibers to provide the highest possible dynamic range for the recording of bioelectrical signals that are amplified and digitized and further de-convoluted into computer commands.

Become your Character
Streaming biopotentials into the computer and witnessing real-time feedback through the game will result in a novel way to expertise virtual reality. Great product, but not for everyone - pt3
Also when you get the device, you'll probably have the first official version of the software available on the installation CD. You should immediately head to the support page for NIA in OCZ's website and download the latest patch (at the moment version 1010) that fixes a lot of bugs and problems. The good thing is that there are frequent updates for the software so that the device's potential for improvement can be constantly improved.

You should note that currently the NIA officially supports only 32-bit Windows XP and Vista operating systems. So if you have a 64-bit Windows or want to use the NIA under Linux or Mac OS X you better think twice or at least you should postpone the purchase a little. OCZ are currently working on x64 Windows drivers and probably other operating systems will be supported later on, but that will take time...

Great product, but not for everyone - pt2
Be prepared to take your time and try different things and see how it works out as you play with the device, a good starting point would be the official OCZ support forum, because there is already a good community formed from different NIA users sharing their problems, ideas and experiences with the device.

One more thing you'll have to be prepared if you are buying the NIA - the potential problems you might run into trying to use the device. A lot of people are having problems with electromagnetic interferences caused by other electronic devices along with some grounding problems. If you experience such problems you might have a lot of trouble with adjusting the sensitivity of the NIA, but then again there are a lot of different approaches to get rid of the problems. Again a good starting point is the official support forum if you experience any trouble with the NIA.
