Just what I need

Very small, fast and yu can use it as external USB HDD! Flexible to use. One star less is due to the process of configuration that is not so clear and the instructions are very very poor.

So far so good

No overheat issues, good speed (100 MB/s). On an HP 2740p, increase in power consumption only 1 Vat. from 17 idle without the card to 18. No booting though ...

Once installed it's a perfect companion for the macbook pro late 2008.
One should be also interested in little optimizations, like those ones :

Seamless upgrade on my early 2008 MBP, the Spinning Beach Ball of Death is extinct. Never going back to a normal HDD.

I have a 15" Macbook Pro from March 2008 (pre-unibody)

It has an ExpressCard slot, whereas the Unibody model has an SD card reader instead.

The Wintec 96GB ExpressCard having a write speed of 30 MB/s, I was tempted to try to use it as boot and system partition for my Mac. I heard about overheat issues from previous models, like the 48 GB version, but it should have been fixed.

So far no problems, it has cut the time my Macbook boots to just over 20 seconds. Before it was over a minute.

I have also upgraded from 2 to 4 GB ram memory, and installed a new 500 GB drive internally (was 250GB). I am not done sorting out all the files yet, but my 2 year old MBP has had a serious mid-life update.

For some odd reason, the card I was sent has a label on it which says "ENGINEERING SAMPLE ONLY", but I contacted the manufacturer and we agreed that as long as I have full warranty, I was happy to keep it anyway.

On the condition that it keeps working fine, I should recommend this product to other users.
