The Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 is a specialized direct-die water cooling solution developed for enthusiasts seeking improved thermal performance from compatible Intel LGA1700 processors. Unlike conventional CPU coolers, the coldplate makes direct contact with the exposed processor die after the CPU has been delidded, eliminating the integrated heat spreader from the cooling path.
The Pro version enhances the design with additional cooling fins and reduced flow resistance, helping optimize heat transfer while maintaining efficient coolant circulation. Its nickel-plated copper coldplate features a carefully engineered microfin structure and optimized cooling channels, providing an effective interface for direct-die cooling.
The cooler is designed to replace the standard heatspreader and SAM assembly on compatible processors. The nickel plating also provides a protective barrier between the copper coldplate and gallium-based liquid metal, helping prevent the liquid metal from diffusing into the copper surface. This can make repeated liquid-metal applications generally unnecessary.
For durability, the cooler incorporates an acrylic glass section that is annealed after machining. This stress-relief process helps reduce internal stresses in the acrylic and lowers the risk of stress cracking during extended use. An anodized aluminum cover completes the construction and houses the integrated RGB illumination.
The built-in RGB LEDs can be connected to a compatible 3-pin 5V ARGB motherboard header (+5V/DATA/GND). The lighting illuminates the acrylic section beneath the aluminum cover as well as the G1/4-inch fittings, adding customizable illumination to the cooling assembly.
The Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 is intended for Intel 12th, 13th and 14th Generation processors on the LGA1700 platform. Because this is a direct-die cooler, the processor must be delidded before installation and the motherboard's Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) must be removed. Delidding can damage the processor and voids the manufacturer's warranty. Always verify the latest processor compatibility list before installation.
