Same size but not same shape

The SSD has about the same size as a conventional 2.5-inch HDD but not quite the same shape. I had to modify its top cover to fit it into the cavity of my notebook. I hope that the manufacturer would reform it to the exact shape of the 2.5-inch HDD.

Great for old laptop

I wanted to get rid of the noise in my old laptop and prepare it for my kids with an HDD that was running in it for 10 years. So I looked up the right interface and a good price for a SSD. My old laptop is a Compaq/HP EVO 610 N. It was not easy to change the HDD. First one screw I had to be hammered out of the HDD cage because it was stuck and the head was too soft to get s screwdriver to remove it. And then I found that the 2 front screws for the adapter cage are slightly smaller so then can slide deeper into the slot, then the 2 srews in the back. I upgraded the RAM also to 1GB and then installed Edubutu for the kids to use for fun and practise. Adding accounts to Edubuntu is fun too(via commandline only). The drive can now not be heard anymore as it is a SSD and I dont have to worry about it being dropped either ;) The laptop had initially WinXP installed...
So if you have an old PATA/IDE laptop or even desktop that is wasting your space at home - try this alternative drive and make use of it...

Great speed

It's my first time using SSD, and considering it's a IDE I had my doubts about it. I installed it on an older laptop, a P4 with only 512MB of RAM, which came originally with a 40GB IDE hdd. Now it works much faster than it ever did before.
