Why do we need active cooling? The heat generated by high-speed PCIe 5.0 transmission can no longer be effectively dissipated by standard heatsinks and high temperatures will affect the reading/writing speed of data. How does active cooling work? Active cooling works by using a tightly adhered heat spreader and a metal heat dissipater to transfer heat from the SSD upwards to double-layered aluminum fins. A built-in fan draws cold air from openings on the nameplate and directs it into he upper part of the aluminum fins. As hot air rises and cold air falls, hot and cold air meet, and the rotation of the fan quickly expels the heat from both sides of the aluminum fins. This design provides superior heat dissipation compared to fanless heatsinks.
