This is a plug and play upgrade no need to reinstall your OS because the 4GB module in the system houses all of the OS and other programs. Be sure to put any files that you do not want to loose onto another computer then once you have completed the upgrade move them back to the system. I purchased this a couple months ago and so far it has been working very well in my Asus Eee PC 900A that I bought from Best Buy.

The read/write time on the 4GB SSD that originally came with the unit was painfully slow. I noticed this with the Xandros operating system, Ubuntu Eee, and with Windows XP Professional.

The read/write time on this particular 8GB MyDigitalSSD PCI Express SSD is much better. Currently, I am using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3, Windows Defender, and the corporate edition of Symantec Anti-Virus. Overall, this SSD handles the software fine. (I did upgrade my RAM to 2GB as well, which certainly helps.)

I will be using my Asus Eee PC 900A for live electronic music performances and this 8GB MyDigitalSSD PCI Express SSD will work well for my needs.
